Alternate Universe thing...

For a challenge at gameofcards to create an AU. As a tribute to the recently departed James Garner, always a favorite actor of mine, I did an update of The Rockford Files, 21st century style. Here's what I said about this show for a previous challenge:

"With the most awesome James Garner as a hapless, lovable loser type of private detective, with his own set of morals, a funky trailer on the beach, and a Pontiac Firebird. One of the best gimmicks of the show, and one that really illustrated Rockford's character, was the opening telephone answering machine message. See the sample here."

I didn't even have to scroll down to be 100% sold on this. Karl would be so perfect for a Rockford Files remake. I really love your choices here, especially Gina Torres and Mark Ruffalo (Karl and Mark working together would make me all kinds of happy). Thanks for linking me here. I fall so behind in checking out what people have done for challenges, I totally missed this.

I still do wonder why no one's done a reboot yet. Maybe because it's a show built around older characters. Anyway, I'd rather Hollywood not remake it rather than do a bad job with it.

I agree! I'd hate to see a bad reboot. Thanks for the comment. I keep waiting for Karl to get back on a show, I'm still bummed about Almost Human.
