Finally shook my mood.

Sorry, cut still messed up, but i give up.

It helped to talk to Karen; when I said to her, "I'm realizing I've gotten as much out of this trip as I'm going to" I suddenly felt better, even though I'm not sure what I meant. Heh.

It also helped to pack up a box of stuff and send it home. 20 lbs, 16x16x16, and I think I got a deal from the guy at New University Pen and Stationery down the street. He didn't want me to use the FedEx billing slip, wrote all my info on a slip of paper, told me his "guy" would be back in a while, and later emailed me with the FedEx tracking number. Huh? Only $30, so I hope it works out.

Had plans to meet KPC near her office at 4:15, so decided to head out early to go through midtown, maybe for the last time. Also, it's Hiroshima Remembrance Day, and I knew there was something planned by Yoko Ono. I know it sounds like I'm doing a lot of Yoko stuff this trip (the iD show, Dakota, Strawberry Fields, and the Lennon exhibit at the RnR Hall of Fame) but some of that is because I have her on Twitter. Anyway, the whole "event" seemed quite puzzling, including "small groups of “nuclear phantoms” fanning peacefully through midtown wearing white makeup and coveralls on which the deathtolls of various 20th century conflicts will be written. The event will end with a silent gathering of phantoms converging in Times Square." Thought maybe I'd randomly catch some of it if I went through the area, but no luck. Lovely day in midtown, so worth it.

Had a delightful time with KPC, checking out stores around 5th Avenue, including FAO Schwarz (where you can "make your own Muppet" by picking out the different parts, and having them put together), Jamba Juice at Whole Foods, and stroll through the park, including clambering over the awesome Umpire Rock, which, according to the Long Island Geologists,"consists of interbedded mica schist and granofels, interpreted to be a metamorphosed turbidite sequence." It was such a beautiful day, with a cool undertone, that I felt positively euphoric. Didn't matter that for the first time this trip, I accidentally took the uptown, instead of the downtown train. AND, on the way home, I got a good picture of firemen. Hoh!
