First Time, Last Time
Fandom: Firefly
Pairing: Kaylee/Simon
Rating: PG-13
Warning/Notes: Implied sex
Word count: 502
Kaylee stepped back out of Simon’s embrace and tilted her head back to look him in the eye. “Kinda sweaty and noisy in here,” she said impishly, looking around the steaming engine room. “Wanna find someplace where … we can get even more sweaty and noisy?“ She gestured with her head and winked. “My bunk, f’r example?” She knew she was being bold, but after all, why not?
Simon’s eyes widened and he nodded, silently. Catching hold of his hand, Kaylee led him out, and they headed for the crew’s quarters, dropping hands passing through the kitchen, with Simon pulling on his shirt, in case anyone was about, and taking the last hallway at a near run as the anticipation fired up their feet.

Kaylee stretched, leaning for a moment against Simon’s sleeping frame, then rolled gently to her back to gaze, blinking slightly, at the fluffy pink dress arrayed above the bunk. She listened to Simon’s quiet breathing, felt the pleasant ache in her muscles, and tried to gauge how she was feeling. Physically satisfied, yeah—Simon was a surprisingly skilled and uninhibited lover. And didn’t it feel good, after wanting this for so long, with the added spice of the whole “glad you’re alive” thing, what with almost dying, and losing Wash and Book and almost losing Serenity, and now setting out to some kinda new future…hmmm. Something weird tugging at her insides there, maybe grief, maybe worry ‘bout what was gonna happen next. Were her and Simon a couple now? Like, going around together, serious-like? Not like they could just be totally casual, not with living together in — literally — close quarters.
She was biting her lower lip and blinking her eyes worriedly when she felt Simon stir next to her, felt him turn towards her. “Hey,” he said softly, moving to kiss her, then pausing. “Uh oh. Something’s wrong?” He levered himself up to look her at her directly. “Kaylee?” Kaylee stumbled into words. “Nah, well, yeah, I’m just…it was fantastic, Simon, you’re the best, and it was everything I coulda hoped for. Especially for a first time.” A smile drifted across her face at the memory. “It’s just that…just don’t know what’s supposed to happen now.” She looked at him apologetically. “I mean, I want more, but we’ve had so much change, and I don’t know if we can handle…”
“Shhhhhh.” Simon stroked his fingers across her lips. “It’s okay. It’s okay, Kaylee. I won’t be … I’m just so happy we had a chance to have a first time. It would still be absolutely perfect even if it was also our last time.” He looked down at her with such affection that she felt her heart stir.
“Uh, okay, then,” she said slowly, letting all the confused thoughts flow out and a more simple idea flow in. “But I never said THAT had to be the last time. Howsabout we make THIS the last time?” With that, she pulled him down on top of her, enjoying his burst of laughter and passionate embrace.
