I imagined that Brienne lives in a small, charming brownshingle house on a quiet street in Berkeley, California. I think she would like the woodsy element, but want to be in an lively town with good food and intellectual pursuits. She needs a vehicle with space, so she drives a classic 1953 Jeep Willys which she cares for lovingly. The Jeep is also perfect for carting around her tools for her job as a landscape gardener. She enjoys working with her hands, making things come alive, and spending her days outdooors.
She is athletic, and plays on several local teams for basketball, volleyball, and, in tribute to her English upbringing, field hockey. She likes the camaraderie as well as the physical exertion. For fun, she indulges in a zest for medieval cosplay, camping and hiking, and hot tubbing at hot springs spas--again, showing her love for physical movement and the great outdoors.

I'm With Cupid!
Jul. 23rd, 2015 11:01 pmFor
lands_of_magic, to do a dating profile for a magic-fandom character. Awww, she doesn't need help getting a date, but anyway.....

Hello! I am Margaery, and I hail from Highgarden. Yes, I am of House Tyrell, thank you for asking. Let’s see, what would you like to know of me. Age? Now, now. Shall we say “young enough to know better, old enough to care?” Gender? Hee hee. Isn’t it plain? I’m all woman and happy to be so. Job? Tending to my family and to our future. Our House motto is Growing Strong, and I feel my life’s endeavor to be dedicated to that principle, in mind, body, fortune, and clan. Speaking of body, my Body
type? It’s just me as I am. Perhaps it would help to know that our House Sigil is a Golden Rose on a Bed of Green. I try to emulate the peace, beauty, and fertility of that beloved image.
What am I looking for from a love match? Ah, what shall I say? I seek a man who is strong and sure, who knows who he is and where he is going. He should be a man of the people, but also a leader—with a depth of vision to lead Westeros into peace and prosperity. He can be younger or older, dark or fair; must be of good form and family, fighting fit. Animal lovers are a plus.
Not looking for: May I say from past history, I’d prefer to avoid anyone who loves his fellow man too little, or too much. And I regret to decline any alliance that doesn’t bring benefit to my clan or my people. Harsh, you say? As I have stated, ’tis my vocation and my calling, and my raison-d’etre, to use the gifts I am privileged with, to bring stability to my lands and to my clan. Only an advantageous match will assure as such.
If you feel you are the man for me, please be in touch. I have much to bring to a relationship, and I don't stint in my giving for the right man. (Words: 330)

Game of Thrones and the Chinese Horoscope
Oct. 10th, 2014 11:27 pmThe challenge was to come up with a patronus for a favorite character. I used the Chinese Horoscope animals…and looked up the actors’ birth years to find the best matches of person and animal characteristics. So…

For a challenge at
gameofcards, to do something on the theme of the Tarot card The Tower. Described as: "The Tower is commonly interpreted as meaning danger, crisis, destruction, and liberation. Chaos — Sudden change — Impact — Hard times — Crisis — Revelation — Disruption — Realizing the truth — Disillusion — Crash — Burst — Uncomfortable experience — Downfall — Ruin — Ego blow — Explosive transformation." Okay, so it's rather literal, but this is what I thought of.

Mood Boards for Female Characters
Sep. 3rd, 2014 08:24 pmFor a challenge at
womenverse. This was cool, I'd never seen mood boards before. At first I was stumped, but thanks to
blue_sunflowers, it kind of popped. It's her creativity that inspired the Luna one; I admire how her suggestions were all adjectives, while the ones I came up with on my own were mostly nouns. That means something I think.

Prompt fic, Game of Thrones
Jun. 30th, 2013 10:53 pmMore prompt fic for
universe_the: prompt is from
trivher: "Girl, you'll be a woman soon." Though I mostly thought of silly stuff related to this, here is what came out.
Bloodflower
Fandom: Game of Thrones
Word count: 300
Arya opens her hands in the glow of the burning torches and feels heat of the fire, the warmth of the dark blood slipping between her fingers. "Valar Morghulis" -- a harsh whisper in her ear -- "Valar Dohaeris." She lifts her arms skyward, and lets the blood drip down onto her face …
…the splash on her cheek is cold, and as she opens her eyes another hits her nose. Hard ground beneath her, cool breeze skimming her skin, dark all around, and the intermingled sound of the patter of the rain, the snort of a horse, and the snoring of a huge lump of a man nearby. She shifts on the damp earth and breathes as waking reality strips off the heat of the dream. It's a familiar ritual--she'd been having this particular dream since she ended the Frey man. She moves to rub her face when a coppery tang makes her freeze. Yes, the dream was always realistic, but never….she darts out a wary tongue and tastes blood.
Sitting up, she slides her hands into a patch of ice-colored moonlight and sees dark smears on her fingers. She swallows a sob as realization seeps in, and feels beneath her to confirm. All those years hearing Nurse talk to Sansa about the time of her flowering, hoping some miracle would render her immune. And so. Here, now.
For a moment she thinks fixedly of her Nurse, and her sister, and her mother, and tries to remember what it was like to be in the company of other females.
Shoving the feelings down deep, she clambers to her feet and strides to the moon-dappled stream, to wash and do whatever else a warrior -- warrior woman -- must to ready herself for the coming day on the field of battle.
