My iPhone told me it was going to be in the high 80s Monday so I decided to stay in until my dates uptown. Plotted my course multiple times, since this is the first time I've been further north than 57th. I'm glad Gary told me about taking the #1 train to and from the Christopher Street station so I knew where it was. But it started thundering, then pouring, on the way, so I had to stop and buy a pair of socks to wear (temporarily, hopefully). I guess Blue and Mark were right that I didn't bring enough socks. Spent some of the time on my longest subway ride so far wondering if it would be raining when I emerged at the 116th Street/Columbia U. stop.

No, it was bright and sunny! Walked across campus, which looked very familiar from, I guess, TV, and photos of the student takeovers in the late 60s. Easily found Melissa's office, and went with her to get her nervous Hep B shot with the Medical Director. On the way, crossing Amsterdam, we got flagged down by their boss's boss for an impromptu discussion of performance evaluations on the corner. Hah! After, we hung out at the very nice Le Monde on Broadway and 112th and talked about politics, privilege, relationships, and the future. While we were in there, heard a crack of thunder and it started pouring. Stopped before we got out.

Popped next door to meet John, Kristin, and little Joe at Mill Korean Restaurant. They dried off an outside table for us and we had a lovely meal. Back to their place on Morningside; it's a wonderful neighborhood, and that street has amazing view. I didn't know we'd be so high up walking along the park there. I got to see their New York Times Wedding Vows video! They talk to each of them about how they met and fell in love, with scenes of them walking around and playing banjo and such. Fortunately their stories matched.

Buzzed back on the1 train. Kind of looked for a cupcake place on the way back, but no luck.
