My last night.
Aug. 9th, 2009 12:41 amThanks, New York.

Your streets are crowded, but surprisingly clean. Except for the bags of garbage piled along the curb at night. Your air buzzes with sound, punctuated by honking horns and music from the rooftop parties across the way. Your food is delicious, especially the cupcakes. Your street fairs belch smoke and proffer cheap sunglasses and pashminas of every hue. Your art is inspiring and sometimes disturbing; your parks well-tended and full of delights. Your much-maligned summer weather is breezy and mild.
And most of all, your people are adventuresome, welcoming, and kind. Especially John, Bill, Kristin, and Joe; Josephine, Gary, Lissie, and Val; Alyssa and Pran; Melissa and Jane; Laurel; Paula and Tony's friends and relations; and the kid who sold us the skateboard at Supreme. Thanks for making it such an amazing stay.
