Museum Mile.

Almost decided at the last minute, around 10:30 am, to go to SoHo instead, because I saw on Twitter that Gossip Girl was filming down there, and I haven't seen anyone famous since I've been here. That I know of. Not that I care about that, but people keep asking me.
But as I told them on the Buffy board, I'd already put on my primrose blue uptown skirt, so went through with my plan to go to the Guggenheim. It's the 50th Anniversary, and they're having a special Frank Lloyd Wright exhibition.
It still hasn't gotten old, wrapping on a scarf and flipping by the doorman and out down the street. It's just so fun and easy to go on these little expeditions. The green line stations are a little older and funkier than some of the others, but I like it.
In truth, it wasn't so much the Guggenheim that drew me uptown, but the Cafe Sabarsky, in the Neue Gallery, which I'd read about and wanted to go to ever since I saw these descriptions:
Eisschokolade 11
Chilled chocolate milk with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream
Wiener Eiskaffee 11
Chilled coffee with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream
Easy to find, and it's the greatest little place. So European (I guess, though I've never been to Austria), dark, quiet, and kind of a world out of time. It's not usually my kind of thing, Old World European, but I can certainly enjoy ham on dense bread with horseradish and pickles, creamy cold coffee, and everything served on silver platters.

As often happens, there were two things in the NY Times that seemed...coincidental. One story about Mozart, which fit with the surroundings, and one featuring this over-privileged kid who is a writer, that kind of pissed me off, and made me realize it might be tough to live in New York City, with the extreme social stratification and all.
The Guggenheim is always an amazing space. Strolled back down along Central Park, and later Park Avenue, and even later, through SoHo and felt euphoric.

The 6 was packed on the way downtown. I wanted to get a full-on picture of this amazing looking kid, with his hair all feathered forward obscuring his eyes, pierced nose, and handcuff belt, but...couldn't.

Not sure how I'm going to spend my remaining days here. I have several expeditions laid out, and yet not sure if i want to race around like crazy, laze about, or what.
