Waiting for Rescue

Summary: These two episodes were a lot about rescue. Here are a couple vignettes on that. For fantas_magoria , What’s My Line 2. The second one is based on the Flash Challenge.


I. No breath? His seems to be coming short and hard. No body fluids? Sweat is trickling down his chest. And being bloodless usually meant preternaturally cool. But his skin’s afire, eyes scorched by the light.

Still, a weird, dim glow of relief. The long nights, shadowy days; endless years, some blank, some filled with horror. Soon to end, the last of his kind. Only one of his kind.

Almost gone, he hears a clang, and looks up blearily. A redshirted form, bending down to haul him out of the sun. Another chance at un-Life? He steels himself to survive yet again.

II. In this split second…

…she thinks: Well, this has been a  day. Freaking squeamishness. Pure terror. Overwhelming relief. Utter frustration. Screaming annoyance. But now, his breath on her cheek, a whole new feeling. A warmth rising, flowing outward, to the surface--her outer shell, that all her life she had cooled to an extermal perfection. The emotion floods her. Suddenly scared, she jumps back.

 
… he thinks: Yeah! Saved from a life of never touching a human woman! Woo hoo! Man, it feels good! But what’s that? A feeling in his chest, like that hollow space, pressed into a tight ball, begins to expand. Gah! Startled, he jumps back.

Poor Angel. Ready to give up the fight and is rescued at the last moment. Is it a blessing or a curse with what is to come?

Funny how all his girls turn out to be demons. Even Cordelia at the end.

Thank you! It was fun to think of what each of them might be going through. Oh and yes on the Angel thing; I had an idea to forshadow him being saved from one torture only to fall into another, but I decided it could be unsaid.
