Dear Folks, Hope all's good at home; miss you lots. You've been asking 'bout what my life is like these days, so I'm giving you "A Day in the Life of Kaywinnet Lee Frye"--not that anyone here calls me that, 'cept sometimes the Captain when I'm in bit of trouble. Which not that anything I do is bad, Mama, so don't worry, more like when there's a problem with Serenity, which I guess is worse to Pop, but not like that's my fault, because we're running her on a shoestring, and she does beautifully-well for all of that. ANYWAY...

According to Riv--uh, this gal who rides with us, I'll call her Rianna, it doesn't mean a thing to talk about a "day" when you're out in the Black, something about solar cycles, and then every world we land on's got a different time thing going, but still, Mal likes to keep a schedule, so we have hours and such, and except for coverage shifts, all try to wake up and eat and sleep at around the same times. Sooooo-

Morning: First thing, I always check the control panels and the engine room, be sure nothing's gone amiss.

This was a great day since we got to go planetside. Cap'n and the others had a project, and Wash and I -- Wash, he's the pilot, and he took most of these pictures -- got do to a little shopping for stuff for Serenity. I don't care much about buying stuff for myself, but sure do like to get parts for my girl.

Zoe and Mal seem real serious a lot of the time, but this day, the project went well, so they were pretty happy and actin' silly. It's good to see.

Later on , I helped rig Jayne up--that's Jayne there, he's a guy not a girl--for this other, um, project they were working on.

Now I don't want you to worry, but something we're doing is learning to shoot, guns I mean. That's me and Si....las, Rianna's brother, taking lessons from Zoe.

Dinner time: You don't have to worry about it being too rough and tumble out here; the crew is real nice folks, and Mal keeps a real family feeling. We sit down to dinner almost every night we can; food's not much, unless we've gotten something good from one of the planets, like we did today.

Bedtime: I got my own bunk, you can see, and got it all fixed up nice. That dress...well that's another story, I'll have to tell you next time, because I want to get this sent out then get to sleep, another big day tomorrow as part of the crew on Serenity!
