Kid Robot Supreme
Jul. 15th, 2009 12:34 amWe've gotten into a routine. Sleep in late, make Peet's coffee, eat Morton Williams granola, cheese and crackers, and stare at the view. Decide what to do for the day. Today we had a particular mission. Despite, er, advice from
I friend-locked this entry just in case, since our main mission for the day was to buy a deck for Andrew at Supreme, especially once Lori looked them up online after his Facebook hinting, and discovered they're only like $58, not over $100 like we both thought. I'm sure he doesn't come to LJ, but he could be bored and browsing one night, and we want this to be a surprise for his birthday coming up. He's going to be 15, which is a shock, since when I bought my car he liked it so much I told him I'd give it to him when he was old enough to drive. But I didn't think it'd be coming up so fast.
So, we wandered back through SoHo, which I really like, though I'm sure most of you would find it rather awfully trendy. I like the little cobblestone streets and modern fashiony places like Issey Miyake. Today we found Kid Robot, an ultra-cute/cool Japanese-style "toy " store. I'm taking the little figurines as gifts. I like the one called Smorkin' Labbit.
At Supreme, the cute kid advised us which one to buy, by showing the wear and tear on his. He also assured Lori she could bring it as carry-on on the plane; he does it all the time. ("I want my board with me, I would never check it.") My favorite part was the board bag to carry it in.
