phoebesmum about whether to continue here despite being home now ("I post, therefore I am"?). So at the least I'm inspired to finally wrap up my New York Renaissance with a few last pictures and random thoughts.
My favorite part of the whole trip? Meeting online friends in person. This was only my second experience doing that, and it went so well. The Buffy people were awesome and such a pleasant surprise, yet so like how I expected. Now when we gab via Facebook or TWoP, I can picture their gestures and hear their voices, and it makes it so much better.
Second favorite? The subway. Like Lori says, it's such a fast learning curve from being totally intimidated to feeling in total command of the whole damn system. Which overconfidence in my case led to multiple wrong turnings, but that's okay! I was never really in a hurry, and never on during the busiest hours. The speed, the racketiness, the tilework in the different stations--so awesome.
-I meant to, but didn't: Get food delivered, go to that Pommes Frites place even though it was only like 5 blocks away.
-I didn't know I would, but I did: Host two parties, go on a Rockin the River tour, be overwhelmed by the sight of the Statue of Liberty, buy so many clothes at Uniqlo. I like wearing my New York-y outfits here. Go to Atlantic City!
Oh, and the apartment! I really lucked out. Don't forget, next time: must be on a high floor, have a view, be near most subway lines.
I had a few freak-outs, a couple of disappointments, but mostly just a sense of fun, adventure, and doing whatever I wanted to do. I don't know how all that's going to translate now that I'm back. It's been good to be home, friends and family, cooking and driving my little car...bue I have had some malaise, this weird empty feeling I haven't been able to shake, and don't know what'll come of that.
Oh, and my nephew loved the skateboard!
