My Five Favorite Sorkin characters, for [livejournal.com profile] sorkinverse .

Lewis Rothschild in The American President, played by the amazing Michael J Fox, because of this scene:
LEWIS: Mr. President, you've raised a daughter almost entirely on your own, and she's terrific. What does it say to you that in the last seven weeks, 59% of this country has begun to question your family values?
A.J.: The President doesn't answer to you, Lewis.
LEWIS: Oh yes, he does, A.J. I'm a citizen, this is my president, and in this country it is not only permissible to question our leaders, it is our responsibility. But you already know that, Mr. President, because you have a deeper love of this country than any man I've ever known, and I want to know what it says to you that in the past seven weeks 59 percent of Americans have begun to question your patriotism?
SHEPHERD: Look, if people want to listen to Bob Rumson--
LEWIS: They don't have a choice! Rob Rumson's the only one doing the talking. People want leadership. And in the absence of genuine leadership, they will listen to anyone who steps up to the microphone. They want leadership, Mr. President. They're so thirsty for it, they'll crawl through the desert toward a mirage, and when they discover there's no water, they'll drink the sand.

Dan Rydell
from Sports Night, for so much, but mostly for how he looks at the end of this scene. I’ve never seen anyone on any show look so happy. In fact, I think this might be my favorite episode of any show, of all time. Video link. And, thanks as always to the amazing [livejournal.com profile] sntranscripts  for the transcripts.

Dan: I'm gonna tear down that wall, Rebecca. Bit by little bit. It may take weeks, it could take months, but
I'm gonna do it. I'm hunkered down for a long period of wall-demolition. Just bit by little bit. I expect the process to be excruciating, but ultimately worth it.
Rebecca: I've booked a suite at the St. Regis for tonight. Room service has a bottle of champagne chilling in the room right now. Could I take you there please.
Dan: Well that'll speed things up considerably.

C.J. Cregg
from The West Wing. Because she’s tall, and smart, and funny, and tough, and vulnerable, and can hold her own most of the time, and she’s endearingly human.
SAM: There are bathrobes at the gym?
CJ: In the women's locker room.
SAM: But not the men's…
CJ: Yeah.
SAM: That's outrageous. There's a thousand men working here and 50 women.
CJ: Yeah, and it's the bathrobes that's outrageous.

Isaac Jaffe from Sports Night. Because he’s older, wiser, and just hilarious in his own right. Plus, of course, since Robert Guillaume had a stroke in real life, and was willing to play it that Isaac had a stroke too. But mostly because he is so dry.
Isaac: Danny, I need to talk to you.
Dan Rydell: Good, cause I need to talk to you too. Who should go first?
Isaac: Since I don't really care what you have to say, I think it should be me.

Casey McCall: You think I'm cool, don't you?
Isaac: Do I look like I'm in the mood to do this with you now?
Casey McCall: No.
Isaac: Well then let's assume that I'm not.

Dana Whitaker: Okay, here's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna take care of this footage. Then, I'm gonna stop by Dan and Casey's office to fill them in on Jeremy and Natalie. Then, I'm gonna come back here and I'm gonna talk to you.
Isaac Jaffe: That sounds good. Why don't you do everything you just said, except coming back here and talking to me?

Matt Albie
from Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Because Matthew Perry was a revelation, and seemed happy to play a good, strong, smart and sensitive character who was also a bit of a buffoon and kind of a jerk.
Matt: Thanks, man. I miss her. I really do. I'm dying inside, and I appreciate your support.
Danny: Matt.
Matt: Yeah?
Danny: Go up on the stage now.
Matt: Why?
Danny: You just won.
Matt: Really?
Danny: Yeah.
Matt: Hey, that's great!

Lewis. <3 I didn't even think about the American President because it would have made it even more complicated than it already was, but I love him so much. Amazing list.

I love all of your choices so much! The quotes/videos/picspams were a great touch; they all show exactly why each of these characters are so freaking awesome. And major props for including Lewis :)

Hee, I love your list and your reasons. And most importantly your quotes, lol.

Isaac: Danny, I need to talk to you.
Dan Rydell: Good, cause I need to talk to you too. Who should go first?
Isaac: Since I don't really care what you have to say, I think it should be me.

*g* So much love.
