Scifiland: Why I Like Fringe
Nov. 22nd, 2010 08:31 pmWhy Do I Like Fringe? Because it is that crazy mix of scary, corny, silly, creepy, touching, baffling, gross, endearing, and troubling. So, what better way to represent this? Write a silly verse with a matching picspam. The idea of using the alphabet was inspired by the oh-so-puzzling Alphabet Banners in the schoolroom in Jacksonville, as pointed out by
blue_sunflowers . What does it mean? There are no answers here.
Without further ado: The ABCs of Fringe. (Word count: 510.)
A is for Astrid, her star is so bright,
She hopes Walter won’t call her Asterisk tonight.
B is for Brown Betty, the smoke so sublime
Makes Walter’s fairy tale into metaphor time.
C is for Cortexiphan, it scrambles the brain.
It was meant to improve, but for some, made insane.
D is for Dunham, the sisters so tough
They cling to each other when family's enough.
E is for Ella, by love she is kissed
In her, Liv can see the sweet childhood she missed.
F is for Fibonacci, the series it seems
Can give Walter slumber and bring on his dreams.
G is for Gene and her gentle moo-mooing
When Walter’s ducked under, there’s fresh milk ensuing.
H is for Henry who's been driving a cab
And then borrowed a boat to get Liv to the lab.
I is for Intrigues, in Fringe they are numerous
Though sometimes the retcons and plot gaps are humorous.
J is for Jacksonville where they visit the class
And the place where the memories kicked Liv in the ass.
K is for Kevlar that protects Nina’s chest
She's totally BAMF with a bulletproof vest!
L is for Lincoln Lee, who caught fire in the chase
He thanks Altverse for nanites that fixed up his face.
M is Massive Dynamic, that corporate alliance
Where Brandon can practice his type of fringe science.
N is for Newton, the shape-shifting one
We're sorry he's dead because he was great fun.
O is for Observers, who were only once careless
Their gaze is implacable, their heads are so hairless.
P is for Peter, it must sometimes be grim
That despite the whole Altverse, there's just one of him.
Q is for Question Him! John Scott? But he’s dead!
Except later on, he'll show up in Liv's head.
R is Robotics, experimental sensation
And Nina, for one, appreciates this innovation.
S/T is Synaptic, that Transfer so scary.
But what it uncovers is extraordinary.
U is for Ugly, those monsters offbeat
You've got to remember, don't watch while you eat.
V is for the Victims, their suffering's greater
W's Walternate--The Pattern creator.
X is for X Files, we will likely compare;
Y is for Sam Weiss, he's Yoda with hair.
Z is the enemy, called ZFT:
"Destruction through advances in technology."
So here it concludes, the Alphabet Fringe
I'm sure that my rhyming made some of you cringe.
What can I say, it came out just "Hey, Presto!"
And there you have it, my Fringe Manifesto.
