fantas_magoria
She looks down at the figure in her arms: crooked grin, staring eyes, shiny lapels. He gave up everything to hunt and destroy evil. Well, "everything"—not much to lose, telling off-color jokes with some dork's hand up your…anyway, don't judge.
She thinks of the generations of demon hunters and slayers that came before her ("Korean chick…very hot…muscle tone"…erghhh!). Knowing their efforts would be hidden from the humans they were trying to protect. Doomed to live a lifetime, even several lifetimes, in the costume of a savage, a dummy, a street kid, a high-school girl. Never to have their sacrifice known to the world.
She sighs, cradles Sid, and looks around ruefully at Willow, Xander, and Giles, standing as though posed on the stage. Thinking, at least I'm not all alone. And better, of course, that the others don't know. They would never understand…
With a shoosh, the curtains draw open, revealing the audience—everyone they know from school—gaping.
Inspired by a comment by Eastro at the AV Club: "It gives Buffy a look at what her life is now. The life she doesn't want. Where she kills demons until she dies, usually behind the curtains while everyone else wonders what it was they just witnessed."

Sets her up for the isolation we see later on.
That's a lot of insight for so few words. Great job!
