trivher: "Dessert for breakfast."
Room Service
Fandom: Buffy
Words: 328
Note: This can be inserted into this silly Sherlock BBC/Buffy crossover I occasionally work on for various challenges…
Yawning, Willow wandered into the sitting room to find Xander pouncing on a cloth-covered cart. "You ordered breakfast already?"
"Yup," he grinned. "If there's one thing good about this whole situation, it's unlimited English room service!" He lifted a domed lid and speared a sausage. "Especially now that I've figured out what they mean by 'bangers.' And 'bubble and squeak.'" He grabbed a plate and began to fill it. "But the piece-de-resistance" -- flourishing another silver lid -- "a taste of home, I ordered biscuits!" He lifted the last lid and paused, staring at the neat pile of what looked like chocolate cookies.
"Cookies! This isn't what I--oh." His face fell. "I guess that's just one more thing that's not like home." He slumped down on the couch and stared at the cart.
Willow leaned over the back of the couch and looked sympathetic. Try as they might to make the best of their situation--and being in London was pretty fantastic--being homesick was a part of it, for sure.
Xander seemed to be taking it harder than any of them, weirdly since his home life had been anything but happy. But still, to see all your childhood and teen-year memories, fraught as they were with drunken rants, sleeping bags in the backyard, getting your comic books rained on, and having to fight vampires every night--to see it all get swallowed up by the earth...well. It had been home, and now it was gone, and they were here in London, looking at a bunch of crimes that might just get everything started up again.
As if in response to her thought, Xander fell back on the couch and gazed at the ceiling, moodily nibbling on a chocolate digestive.
Willow leaned way over and wrinkled her nose in front of Xander's face. "Never mind, X-man," she said fondly. "'Eat Dessert First.' You can make it your life philosophy." And ignoring his grimace, she pitched herself face first on top of him and started to tickle.
