Castleland Writing Things
Jul. 20th, 2013 11:12 pmFor a challenge at
castleland: some writing things. Thanks to
blue_sunflowers for the inspiration.

1) Alexis gone. Castle gone. Father found.
2) There once was a homicide cop
Who at her career was the top
But one day a writer
Came sat down beside her
And taught her that life is a romp.
3) Drabble: Masquerade
Castle leaned on the bar at the Mayor's Masquerade, and watched Beckett, in trench coat and trilby with a "Press" tag in the band, stride over. "My dear Beckett, lovely to see you. Or should I say, my dear Kate … Hepburn?"
"Good call, Castle. Hepburn is my idol, and 'Woman of the Year'--sublime." She ordered her drink and turned to Castle, who cleared his throat. "Three measures of Gordon's, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it's ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon peel. Got it?" The bartender, spotting a big tipper, nodded and moved away. Kate examined Castle. "A tux? Who are you, yourself?"
"Bond, James Bond."
"Really, Castle? Isn't that a bit cliche? And what happened to 'martini, shaken not stirred'?"
"Ah. That drink is from the original novel, Casino Royale." Castle's grin clouded, and his eyes shaded toward sad. "As to the cliche, well … I … have my reasons."
4) Ficlet: The Spell
'Well, I must say, one thing is certain--that psychic is not a sham." The words and tone were Martha's but they were emerging from Alexis's lips.
"Grams, how can you be so calm! This is a disaster! I have a date tonight, and I can't go like this!" Martha's dulcet tones were sounding more petulant than usual, and her hands were uncharacteristically clutched in front of her, her eyes desperate.
"Now now, Alexis, Madame Longine assured us that the--spell--would wear off in a matter of hours. Apparently it was rather unexpected, but as she says, a tribute to our simpatico, or should it be simpatica?" "Martha" moved to pat her coiffure and seemed surprised to only find long, straight locks. She looked at her companion and blinked. "My, this is rather strange; it's like watching one's unruly self in a mirror."
"Rather strange! It's freakish!" "Alexis" jumped up, and "Martha" was treated to a vision of her own elegantly-dressed figure pacing up and down in front of the sofa, grasping at her skirt. "And, I mean, no offense, Grams, you know I love you, but being in your body feels just plain weird!"
"Alexis, please, dear, do not ruin that, it's Givenchy. Just settle down dear, and we'll wait for this to pass." She gazed down at her 19-old hands. "And to be perfectly honest, I can't say that I mind this, for a while. It's like my body is a match for how young I feel, most of the time. With the added bonus of wisdom." She preened and struck an elegant pose. "In any case, perhaps we can think of some way to amuse ourselves while we wait."
Suddenly a rattle of keys at the door caused both women to stare at each other (themselves) in horror, then in dawning realization. "Dad's home!" gasped the older woman. "Just the thing, now for some fun!" crowed the younger, as both arranged themselves for the pranking of Richard Castle.
5) Lanie shivered in the cold, and hugged her arms to her side for warmth. Her mind drifted and suddenly she was imagining herself in Javi's warm embrace, laying in the sun on the roof of his building, exchanging heated kisses. For a moment the vision lingered, then the chill of the lab penetrated her daydream, and, sighing, she resumed the autopsy before her.
6) Season cliffhanger
Will she stay or will she go?
What do you all think?
