Sleepy Hollow! I wasn't going to watch this because I'm not a huge fan of horror, but a bunch of you persuaded me, so I gave it a try. Liked it, in that "oh this makes no sense but it does and it has cool music and the actors have good chemistry and it HAS JOHN CHO!" kind of way.

Great fun. I'm sticking with it to, if nothing else, find out the answer to this question posed at The AV Club:
"Is Sleepy Hollow the next Fringe or the next Cape?"

Watch along, and judge for yourself.

Tomorrow, Brooklyn Nine Nine. Because I have a weakness for Andre Braugher and loved Barney Miller, which it keeps being compared to.

I'm with you. The more I heard about the show, the less I wanted to see it. I was convinced I wouldn't like it and it would be one of those, like The Bridge, that I'd watch for five minutes and then delete it.

But the Legend of the Headless Horseman is one of those stories for which my love has a thing for, and as it turns out, I'm glad she persisted in watching it. I hate what happened with Cho's character, but I like the girl which I didn't expect to. I'm also surprised to find Orlando Jones acting again after all this time ("Come on, ice cream!"), am liking Katherine and their use of the covens, and the Biblical apocalyptic aspect is actually making sense so far. It's also not too gory for my tastes, which is rare with horror shows these days, and the scene at the end is still rather sticking with me. I guess, probably, because I've seen things in mirrors before myself, although not that, thank God!

We'll be trying Brooklyn Nine Nine tonight, too. The premise sounded promising, but I hope it's not as stupid as the commercials for it which I've seen make it look!

Sleepy Hollow is one of the few new shows that peaked my interest this season. I managed to watch the first episode and enjoyed it a lot! It has such a great creepy atmosphere. I also agree with the above comment about gore. As much as I adore the horror genre, too many shows and movies rely on that sort of thing too much, so I'm glad Sleepy Hollow has been more tasteful about it so far.

I liked the Sleepy Hollow pilot (it was aired in Australia just hours after the US which is OMFG because that doesn't usually happen) but I don't know how they can sustain that kind of plot arc for a full season. I could be proved wrong, of course. I just pine for the era when pilot episodes were 80+ minutes and set the stage for a formula - I like formulae, tbh. :)

I can't say it's really been shocking. Most of those who got it I saw getting axed well in advance of the writers actually depicting it, but not so far in advance that I saw the whole script within five minutes of watching which is too apt to happen for me.

Well, what did you think of Brooklyn? I didn't care for some of its humor, I admit, but their twist with the new Captain has me cinched in for a few episodes at least. I rather like the women, too; the few cops shows I've watched in the past, like Walker Texas Ranger and some seasons of Nash Bridges, have always had strong women.

We missed the second episode because of SHIELD, but we'll be getting the third. There were a couple of characters on SHIELD that I just seriously wanted to slap around. I agree, though: Brooklyn does need some gelling, and Samberg needs a few, good bitch slaps to get him in place. Andre should be just the person to do it. :-)
