Zoe looks in the shuttle door. “Inara? Need a favor. That slinky dress, none of my underthings look right. Thought you might have a slip or somesuch to lend.”

Inara casts a professional eye. “We’re not the same size, but let’s see.” Walks closer, puts a hand on Zoe's waist, scrutinizing. Slides down the hip. “I’m sure I do. What’s the occasion?” As she moves to a trunk near the bed, her amber fragrance hovers; Zoe tilts, slightly, into the warm scent.

“Got a meet at a fancy ’do, and it’s the last thing Wash ever gave me-” Inara turns, billowy silk in her hands. “It’s a wonderful idea. Here, look.” The silk slips through her fingers; she catches it and holds up a soft green shimmer, twitches it enticingly. “It will be lovely on you. Try it.”

Surprised, Zoe stutters. “I’ll just take it, uh-“

“Oh, no. Certainly not.” Inara’s eyes widen as she nears, holding the slip like a veil between them. The amber fragance curls around; again, Zoe leans in. Her eyes flutter closed. Silk slides across her cheek, as Inara’s hand slips around her waist. Not professional this time. Soft whisper. “You must try it here.”

Nice fic; I've just gotten into firefly femmeslash, and this pairing needs so much more love than it gets, so thank you for writing it. :)

Wow, I can’t get over how pitch perfect this is. There’s a very dreamlike quality to the scene. I love how Inara changes the subject ever so subtlety to circumvent an unnecessary pain for Zoe. Definitely leaves you wanting more, and that how it should be.

oh yum. i think i have a new hot pairing....

lovely. i love Zoe's terse-ness (if thats even a word), and the fact that she cant help leaning in towards Inara's natural warmth and her scent.

concrit wise, i should be picky and point out that it should be "got a slinky dress", not "gotta" (gotta is a slang contraction for 'got to', rather than a shortening of 'got a'). I hate to do that, though, since it messes up your count... but i challenge you to see if you can make it fit :P

hmm, rereading... i really love your descriptions of movement, such as the fragrance curling, the silk twitching etc. very nice. you have a particular style here - short, clipped sentences, description rather than naming etc - and its really interesting and poetic. great work :)

You are so right. I couldn't figure out why that _sounded_ right (when I--ahem--read out loud to myself) but _looked_ wrong. I made a small change, and I'm so relieved. Thanks for the constructive and supportive comments!

Thanks. I don't exactly know why, but even in such a short piece I wanted to be sure it was clear that Zoe was, well, single. :-/

don't worry, I think it's definitely PG-13. but that's just what makes it so awesome: you managed to stay inside the restrictions and yet it is hot! ;)
