David let himself into the house and dropped his backpack near the door. Unlike him, sloppy, but he was so beat from the double shift that he couldn’t bring himself to give a—oh well. He reached down for the backpack and set it on the sideboard like usual, and half staggered toward the dining table. Sinking into a chair, he rested his head in his hands and tried to decide if he was more hungry, sleepy, or dirty, and whether he cared enough to do anything about it. Getting too old for this, he thought to himself. Got the greys to prove it. He shoved his fingers through his hair as if in evidence.

Dimly, he became aware of a pulsing beat and singing from the kitchen.( Read more... )
